Look not only to Halton but also Quadra where rumours persist that David
Emerson will be run. He'll be "selected" not elected, if so, for the
riding.

If so, I'll be rather busy rallying forces to remind Quadra and other
Vancouver area voters that the Conservative Party of Canada believes in
real democracy about as much as China does.

Conservative Party polls in the area might be giving them more confidence
that Emerson can win in Quadra than is warranted. On the ground experience
in the Vancouver area demonstrated quite clearly that Emerson's immediate
post-election defection met with overwhelming disapproval across all of
B.C., not just Vancouver-Kingsway or the Vancouver area itself. Even in
staunchly "Conservative" ridings public opinion was 75% against the move
made by Harper and Emerson.

Stack a bunch of forced or "selected" riding candidates in a row, throw in
Emerson and Fortier, plop Harper in the front centre seat, and for good
measure dump Dion and his hand chosen few in the lineup too, and you've
got something akin to a Politburo photo op in China with an equivalent
lack of democracy
