I confess I do not understand what Ms. Gingrich is getting at.  She refers to the Armenian genocide, and says it was done by Jews.  Balderdash!  Any Armenian (including my wife) will tell you that the Armenian genocide was promulgated by the Young Turks, a movement which controlled the Ottoman government in 1915.

While the Israelis may have much to answer for, let us not descend into those stupid conspiracy theories which contributed to the growth of anti-semitism.  At least get the facts right!

Christina Blizzard opposes the amendment that will make it illegal for parents to smoke in a car containing a child under 16 because young people have to learn to assess risks for themselves.  Obviously the solution is not for the heavy hand of government, but for six year olds to confiscate the car keys whenever Mom or Dad   lights up.

Reading your comment about economic degrees and those
that don't have a degree. Holding a title is no proof that
one handles the subject well. Leadership often comes
without letters behind a name, carrying the weight of a
past or life directions, which is often larger than the
claimed education. Most of it depends on the person
standing in from of the student, setting the tone and
the example. That can be a parent, friend, teacher or
some one only seen once.

Would just like to make a comment to the lady who criticized Ms Gingrich for
saying she was becoming ashamed to be a Canadian.

What I have noticed over the past decade is,that there is not one Canadian
Federaal Politician who can openly critisize Israel for any reason. If they do
they are swiftly dealt with. JUst prior to a Canadian Federal election approx
10 years ago one of our Federal Parties foreign affair critics was somewhere
near the Gaza Strip, He made the statement on live TV that Israel was using
excessive force on the Palestinians. He no sooner had the words out of his
mouth than he was on a plane headed for Ottawa where he was stripped of his
position, yes replaced as foreign affairs critic, yes he had committed the
mortal sin.  The last one who tried it was Ignattief during the last Liberal
Leadership convention. He stated on TV that Israel had committed War Crimes in
Lebanon. Since the day after that, how many times has he kissed and sucked and
whatever else he had to do to survive as a Canadian Politician? Now he is the
Leader of The Liberal Party of Canada.   So who holds his leash now,who owns
him.  A  15 year old kid, caught up in a war. Is accussed of killing an
American soldier. (in a war) Sent to Guantanamo torture house. 6 years in
there.Did our Robotic  Prime Minister Harper give him any help.    NO. Two
American pilots bombed and killed 4 of our young soldiers while flying around
at night playing with their toys.   Did they get charged with Murder, did they
spend one day in jail??    NO.   Anyway lady I dont remember your name but one
thing I can say that I have learned from life, "You are undoubtdly living in

Subject: Like FDr, Obama has become a transformational figure

The Editor
The Ottawa Citizen

Like FDR, Obama has become a transformational figure

Re "Revising history," by Anna Everett, "Of fathers and sons," by Allan Thomson and "The power of mere words," by Dan Gardner (Jan. 21).

In a letter to the editor published in The Citizen on Jan. 9, 2008 ("U.S. is ready to elect African-American president"), I wrote: "With U.S. Senator Barack Obama's surge in popularity, many analysts are asking: Is the United States ready for an African-American president? Yes, if it is not now, it will never be. ...  It took a civil war to free the African-Americans from slavery and a civil rights movement to end discrimination. ... In Barack Obama, the United states has finally found an African-American leader who can win the highest political office by uniting whites and blacks, making the pursuit of happiness an achievable goal for all."

It was clear that Mr. Obama had galvanized African-Americans, Hispanis Americans, Asian-Americans and other minority groups. He had also galvanized young whites, who rarely voted before. Together they represent 60% of the electorate, leaving only 40% of middle-aged whites. As such, an Obama landslide was a foregone conclusion.

Now it seems that President Barack Obama has galvanized the entire nation and become a transformational figure like President Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR)  who was elected for four times. President Obama also faces a bleak economic future similar to the Great Depression faced by President Roosevelt.

Then as now Great Depression was the outcome of the freewheeling unregulated capitalism which was thought to be the harbinger of prosperity. But as Pope Pius XI once remarked: "Totalitarian communism and unregulated capitalism are united in their satanic optimism." The "satanic optimism" of totalitarian communism stems from the belief that expolitation of man by man can be eliminated by public ownership of all means of production. And the "satanic optimism" of unregulated capitalism stems from the belief that peace and prosperity can only be ensured by unrestricted market forces. The collapse of Soviet communism shows that the former is wrong and the collapse of such iconic corporations like Enron and Lehman Brothers shows that the latter is equally wrong.

FDR dealt the economic collapse through massive expansion of public works. Under his New Deal, the government hired about 60 per cent of the unemployed in public works and conservations projects that planted a billion trees, modernized rural America and built such diverse projects as the Tennesssee Valley Authority, Cathedral of Learning in Pittsburgh, much of the Chicago lakefront, New York's Lincoln Tunnel and Triborough Bridge complex, the Montana State Capitol and the aircraft carriers Enterprise and Yorktown. Roosevelt reduced unemployment from 33 per cent in 1933 to 13 per cent in 1936 to less than 10 per cent in 1940 when the U.S. entered the Second World War. In an attempt to stop the collapse of the banking system, he made federal government a temporary shareholder in thousands of under-capitalized banks and refinanced millions of residential and farm mortagages. Facing equally daunting financial collpase, President Obama seems to be following in the footsteps of his worthy predecessor and I am sure he will be equally successful in revitalizing the American economy.

Rebecca,
Thanks for the nice note.  You are so right, it is 1939.  We must be brave enough to make our own fate, by not being afraid to name the real terrorists.  The war of terror has taken them a long time to fabricate.  The trail of evidence and desolation that they have left should be more than enough to prove that the centers of terror are in Langley, Tel Aviv and London.

To: peter.chamberlin@yahoo.com

Mr. Chamberlin--thank you for this article.  I am not an American but the same
things are happening in Canada.  Our Prime Minister has stated that 'he
defends the Jewish faith' and that 'Canada stands with Israel'.  I
find it utterly frightening that no one is even bothering to hide the control
that that illegal land occupying bunch of terrorists has over our two nations.
Soon we will all suffer the fate of the Palestinians.  Once the NWO is
instituted we will be totally under the control of those with their hands around
our neck.  How could we get such 'leaders' that are willing to dump our
countries to govern solely for a foreign terrorist group--and I don't mean
al Qaida.  They are already bringing our respective economies to our knees.
This is the same game plan as 1939.  The game plan never changes but our bowing
to our masters just keeps getting worse.
You are so right about Pakistan--Mumbai was Mossad created and carried out all
for the end game, but we were told even before the fires were out that it had
been 'terrorists' from Pakistan.  Sound familiar?.
And yet we are supposed to believe the messiah Obama will save us?  I
haven't had radio or TV on today as the gut wrenching vomit being spewed
here is just as bad as in the US.  Are we really this stupid or do our great
'leaders' just think we are.  Or don't they care--they have been
given their marching orders and we must follow?
Most of us know who the real terrorists are but we are forbidden from speaking
it's name.

Subject: Economics of the Unknown.doc

This is intended as a road map against which the various arguments for economic stimuli (Jan 27th budget) can be assessed for probable effect.
Sorry it is so long (9 pages) but there are many aspects to consider, not the least of which are the possible actions by the United States.
Comment and/or criticism will be welcomed.
