Enough is enough! I was lead to believe ages ago only the Police and limited few others could beare arms. Serious restrictions limits possession of a hand gun in Canada.
Today for whatever reason it seems possession of a handgun is some God-given-right!
It is time this mentality was checked and those possessing hand guns taken to task given the laws presently in place. Our Legislators would not need to think more laws are needed in my opinion..
If the Police can stop drivers at a check stop for booze then it is time to use this technique to rid our streets and communities of guns and the idiots with them.
Come on MP's if we cannot enforce the laws we have now, are you that naive to think more laws will help?
Get a grip people the gun laws we have now are not being enforced, tell our elected reps to get off their rear end and enforce what we have now.

Too often gun charges are withdrawn

Subject: Re: Killer Drones
- If the goal of the Canadian Forces is to integrate its operations and equipment with the United States military in order to pursue "a War on Terror", the availability of ''killer drones" that could shoot missiles at insurgents on the ground might prove very useful. The question is whether a $500 million+ expenditure on this kind of weapon is the best use of taxpayers' money if our purpose is actually support of United Nations Peace Operations, rather than fighting wars and countering insurgencies as part of coalitions of the willing. U.N. Peacekeeping may require a robust force but that is but one component of a comprehensive process:
- Modern multi-dimensional peacekeeping operations may be authorized under Chapter VI and Chapter VII of the UN Charter. The most important distinguishing feature of these operations is that they are put in place to implement a peace process, but, as the UN points out, they are not a substitute for a peace process. The military is only one component of a comprehensive political, diplomatic, humanitarian, and economic effort. The objectives of these missions include supporting civilian and non-governmental organizations in the provision of humanitarian aid, the organization and protection of elections, the supervision of government functions, the disarmament and demobilization of large number of parties, the repatriation and rehabilitation of refugees, the protection of safe areas, restoration of national government and institutions, and other missions.
- In order to make a judgment on whether providing the military with "attack drones" is the best possible use of half a billion dollars, I refer readers to the following publication of the Council of Canadians:

What are Absolute Return Strategies, also known as hedge funds?
Absolute return strategies consist of investments in funds whose objective is to generate positive returns regardless of the market conditions, that is, returns with a low correlation to the market.
Our absolute return strategies are managed within controlled risk parameters by experienced external asset managers.
Why does CPPIB invest in hedge funds?
Absolute return strategies provide a broader array of investment options to further diversify our active risk within the portfolio.
Our absolute return strategies are managed within controlled risk parameters by experienced external asset managers.
How much of the CPP portfolio is invested in hedge funds?
Absolute return strategies represented $1.6 billion or 1.3 per cent of the portfolio at the end of fiscal 2008. We do not have an explicit portfolio allocation for hedge funds; rather, on a case-by-case basis, we evaluate them on the same risk/return investment criteria as other externally managed active strategies.
Does the use of hedge funds increase risk in the CPP Fund?
No. All risk/return decisions are made within risk management policies and parameters approved by the Board of Directors of the CPP Investment Board.
Our absolute return strategies are managed within controlled risk parameters by experienced external asset managers.
The fore-going is a cut and paste from the web-site. Note the phrase 'externally managed' when referring to who does the hedging.

Joe,
There is no time remaining for the quibbling over issues of left versus right.
One must understand that the whole system has been hijacked by a greater power. What may be termed a false left/right paradigm is in place. The people think they have a democratic choice.
But Obama is a puppet now to the same faction that pulled the admittedly very few strings that George Bush was able to command. A higher order of controlling interests has now made itself manifest. Final consolidation of banking that controls the issuance of money world-side is taking place. A global elite have ownership not only of the banks, but because the level of debt has now passed the threshold of the sum value of all production, they have ownership of everything. This includes all weapons manufacturers, all drug companies, all media. They have infiltrated ubiquitously.
All world policy is determined by this small group of elite business persons. Again, there is no point in endlessly rehashing secondary questions within the false political paradigm. We must wake up to the new world order. We must face the fact that it is almost here and be prepared to moderate it when it arrives.
We are about to see the emergence of One world power. My money is on Schwarzenneger to be at the helm.
