Hi Joe: How many Liberal messes are the minority Conservative
Government expected to clean up. I can just see the lawyers in
Canada lining up to get their hands on the Khadr case should he be
brought back to Canada. It would be in the courts for 20 years, a
real cash cow! Peggy
===================================
From: "Rebecca Gingrich"
Subject: Common Sense and Windfalls
Joe--WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE THE GOVERNMENT DO WITH THE WINDFALL?
'For this purpose would it not make more sense to place the money into a
special emergency fund rather than into "general revenue" to cushion
economic turbulence'?
You defeat your question by using the word 'common sense'! Common sense
died a long time ago when you speak about governments. Of course, those of
us that have to work for our money(so we can hand it over to the government)
know that you have to be ready for a rainy day. The government has no
concept of that. It always has a steady flow of money for it's own use, and
there are always suckers to tax harder and higher to keep the flow into
General Revenue flowing!
There is an ad that runs on TV and radio here re Ontario grown produce. It
ends by stating the ad is 'brought to you by the government of Ontario.'
That is a lie--it is 'brought to us by our own hard earned money' that has
been given to favourite ad companies of the government. Are we so obtuse
that we don't know that the producers here grow their product in Ontario?
Then two days ago a hydro substation blew up and rendered a huge apartment
building unliveable. This is just one example of government 'common sense'.
General revenue gives politicians more to play with, and give themselves
exhorbitant raises. They are entitled to their entitlements and who are we
to complain or demand common sense?
Of course I agree that all governments, instead of slurrping around for more
'izzy money' should be upholding their mandate to protect the citizen and
govern honestly. But dream on--it ain't going to happen as long as we keep
sleeping. They are so effective at removing our rights that they don't have
time to fulfill their mandate.
becky
Subject: Health Canada and CFIA incompetence
This proves that Bill C-51 is just ridiculous. Those responsible for our
food can't even get their inspections right, and now they wanto control
natural products too? Just like with the botched breast cancer tests in
NFLD. they will write new rules and all will be well. Ridiculous. If they
can't do their job properly now, what will a new list of rules do for
anyone?

To Joe
From Rene Moreau (416-489-8347)
re; the peices by Becky Gingrich and Ron Thornton and the National Energy Program
It is getting VERY obvious how the evils of the NEP are being
pushed to hide the screwing over that Alberta is getting from ameroil
corporations.
We, in Ontario, who apparently know nothing, watch as Rob Love
manhandled premier Klein to make sure he never mentioned raising
royalty rates to Ameroil corp. and when Stelmach said HE would raise
royalties rates they stomped on him with many many feet! They even
used Canadian oil names to cover their presence and object in the
papers to the Canadian readers, thinking we were too stupid to see
the subterfuge!
Why is it alright to get screwed by the neighbours corporations,
but not to share with the rest of Canada?
If Alberta and Canada were working together, against ameroil,
instead of falling for the old divide and conquer ploy of U.S.ian
corporation, couldn't the royalty rates be increased? Currently, it's
embarrassing to watch our people getting conned.
Start reading military history to get a hint of what's happening.
By the way, I live in Toronto proper, breath the air, leave the
windows open at night, and drink the water from Lake Ontario.( after
it has been treated, muchly) Come and visit us some time, don't take
the word of the right-wingers in the west.
