MAY THE SUN SHINE DOWN ON YOU ON REMEMBRANCE DAY

THE  FINAL INSPECTION

The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

  "Step forward now, you soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"

The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
  And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.

But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
  And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
  They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
  As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, you soldier,
You've borne your burdens well.
  Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets;
You've done your time in Hell."

WHO has given us the freedom of the press.

It's the Soldier  WHO  ensures our right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness,

Not the politicians.

It's the Soldier who salutes the flag, WHO serves beneath the flag, AND whose coffin is draped by the flag.

If you care to offer the smallest token of recognition and appreciation for the Military,

PLEASE pray for our men and women

WHO have served and are currently serving our country

AND pray for those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.

God bless our soldiers, sailors and airmen, past and present.

Subject: Root Causes of War

Is sentimentality always an appropriate emotion?.  Is it a sign of intelligence always,  or a lack thereof in many instances.    Are we showing humanitarianism simply because we engage in war,  therefore we are in the right?  I dont think so.   How many people research the  "Root Causes" of any particular war? Including civil wars. What was going on to precipitate WW1, WW2 ,The American Revolution,. The Russian Revolution?. The Afghan War (Oh 911, REALLY) The Iraq War (Oh Sadam Hussein, REALLY)    Are there Billions of Dollars being made out of WAR,  YES REALLY.   So get angry with me ,its your call.  Just keep teaching young kids about the wonderfulness of BLIND PATRIOTISM THAT IS SO WORTH DYING AND KILLING FOR.   KEEP GLORIFYING ALL WAR.  ITS A HUMAN ADDICTION .    BY THE WAY, THE ONLY APPROACH TO CURING ANY ADDICTION, IS TO "TREAT THE ROOT CAUSE", But it is so much easier to make assumptioins by looking half way up the tree, ignore the root.  Its much easier and less time consuming isnt it?

God bless my Dad and all of our Noble Veterans for preserving our freedom and for paving the way for the quality of life that we all enjoy today.

This film clip was played at a school I taught at last week. About 500 kids, 50 parents, dozens of teachers and staff all watched and I know I for one teared up and several others were using kleenexes too.

This morning at the Calgary Airport at 11 there will be an honor guard marching through the terminal. Two minutes to stop and remember. It is very much like the film and a great idea.

Pittance of Time... How appropriate!

It is just two minutes out of our busy lives.  Two minutes for us an eternity for those who did not come home. Our troops all of them make our life today what it is. Had they not donned the uniform where would we be today?

Lest we ever forget!
