Subject: Drug Treatment

Joe--just sent this email to Caplan!
Becky

Mr. Caplan--I would like to congratulate your government for finally introducing the death sentence to Ontario.  Sadly, this decision only applies to desperately ill children, not murderers.  In case it has escaped your attention, I am talking about Andrew Lanese and your department's refusal to fund his drug treatment to control Hunter Syndrome.
You, in your position of controlling health care dollars, have sentenced this little boy to death.  His parents show how he has improved with the commencement of taking Elaprase, but you, and your flunkies, have decided that he has not improved, even with  visible proof.
As usual, it is left to the community to rally around this child and his family.  As usual, it is citizens that get things done with our after tax dollars, not the government that removes so much money from our wallets.  I can't imagine this same decision not fund this treatment would be made if he was the child of one of your MPPs.  I guess it is true that some pigs are more equal?  How do you sleep at night?

Joe

I watch the new unfold as best as I can but apparently I don't understand what
I see.

The news says the second in command of Al Quaida was a (Pediatrician.)

The News says that (15 year old Omar Khadars father was( running orphanages)

I hears two American talk show hosts explaining this last night, but after
they gave these details they said "That was before they decided to become
killers"

This is the mentality that we live with I guess. Hypocrisy beyond belief.

Geo W Bush, mass murderer.     Dick Cheney ,mass murderer, war profiteer.

And to think we have Canadians who cast their lot on the side of Bush and
Cheney.

Its almost impossible for me to believe but its true.

Notice this was all done in lower case.    No hostility, no anger,

In other words, dead from the A-h**e both ways.

*Hi Joe:

Thanks to Charles Tupper, I get to brag. I got 30/33 on his American test. I'm just well read when it comes to such things, I guess.

One article, and Rebecca Gingrich, remind me that any bail out to the auto makers must come with strings attached. Among them would be to put the cash toward jobs and construction in Canada...not in Brazil. How many of us have heard about some outfit coming to town, gets all shorts of perks, then disappears in the night to some place even cheaper to operate? Too damn many.

33 out of 33 so ....uuuhhh ... Well, I never DID learn how to divide by 33 :-S
To be fair, though, there were 3-4 on which I was hung up. That Roosevelt impeaching Supreme Court judges I chose by
elimination, but even then it took some thinking. (US Supremos can be impeached? Tossed out if they're crooks OK, but ...)

Anyway, more revealing is a geography quiz I took earlier today ... It's geared to Canadian teenagers
The best score among the teenagers was 101 out of 131 ... Professor Brainiac here got ... uuuhh ... 84 :-S How embarassing ...
Give it a try!    Take the Challenge!

29 of 33, for 87.9%.

Missed 2 on religion, 1 on slavery, one on the source of a quote.

If only I had unlimited time... I'd program one up for Canada.

88% on Mr Tupper's quiz. Mind you, at my age, just about everything except the Lincoln-Douglas debates was reported in the local papers. CD

Civics Quiz (USA)
Are you more knowledgeable than the average citizen? The average score for all 2,508 Americans taking the following test was 49%; college educators scored 55%. Can you do better? Questions were drawn from past ISI surveys, as well as other nationally recognized exams.

Hi Joe - on that quiz - I got a 69.7 - not bad for a Canadian

....and it's frightening to think I know more about US government and
history than most US politicians; that, and my highly developed (Catholic)
ethical monotheistic stance would likely undermine my chances of being
elected to any political office.
