ANY THOUGHTS ON THE MEANING?
If you go to the http://notaleader.ca/ Conservative website, the picture that comes up of Dion has a drawn character carrying a rifle in the bottom right hand corner.
What could this mean?  Is it a subliminal message to someone?

ONE DOWN TWO TO GO

During the federal campaign of 2006, the government of Prime Minister Jean Charest had claimed a place in international forums where issues are discussed under its jurisdiction provincial.

Unesco, in charge of education, science and culture, had been mentioned, as well as the International Labour Organisation and World Health Organization.

Rolling Back The "Unipolar" World

10/09/08 "ICH" -- - For the past week, Dick Cheney has been traveling through the Caucasus trying to drum up support for punitive action against Russia for its role in the recent fighting in South Ossetia. The Vice President vowed that the Moscow's action "will not go unanswered". Cheney is determined to establish the United States as the regional "cop on the beat", taking charge of all security operations through it's cat's paw, Nato. Neither the Kremlin nor the EU are paying much attention to Cheney's
fulminations. The negotiations for the security arrangements and the withdrawal of Russian troops are being conducted without US involvement.

Subject: cautionary note

  From Rene Moreau (416-489-8347)
To all, this might well look like an anti-American statement. It
is not. Anti-corporate, most certainly.
Most Canadians know the accomplishments of Elizabeth May, and
are happy with them. However, to all and sundry she will admit she
holds dual citizenship. I know, I've mentioned the point to her
repeatedly. Her having been a member of the Sierra Club, who have
recently changed their name, helps to emphasize it. One day, when I
had the time, I
asked around and found that most of the membership were, at the time,
American, in Canada, Sierra being an American entity before. They
also, are good at what they do.
Once again, I re-interate her accomplishments, BUT,  when we
Canadians  watch the influence of American interests in OUR
government, some tend to think, 5th Column. (look it up if you don't
already know)Examples abound. Bank of Montreal president Bill Downe,
had an article printed about him that
included a  separate piece on how Canadian he was, (Douglas Campbell
of the Globe management will not say who wrote it  and Tara Perkins
doesn't know. {the author of the first part of the article} with no
mention that he was American with dual citizenship. He is.
Gerald McCaughey (American,  president of CIBC, holds the purse
strings of that bank and buys his way out of Enron involvement with
Canadian money, as soon as he gets in power!
Gordon O'Connor, can be a defence lobbyist and be Defence Minister
of Canada while holding dual and it is NOT considered a conflict of
interest? He does not even have to tell interested Canadian citizens
that he holds dual, being 'a personal matter'! Citizenship Canada
Canada, Diane Findley,  apparently agrees.
Robert Milton, former head of Air Canada, American, dual,
bankrupts Air Canada , keeps his job, than sells Air Canada 80% to
American interests, then sells it again, under the ACE holdings, name!
If WE were going to put our people into U.S. government to
convince them to give up their erring ways would we not want to put in
some-one good at what they do?
Solution? Ask Elizabeth and Gordon and Marlene Jennings,  Al
Flanagan, Harpers advisor, etc., etc., to dump their American
citizenship while in office, and make it public information that we
must watch for problems. Shouldn't we be defending ourselves from
outside influences, and a government so infiltrated of stupid, they
let it happen, from the inside?

From: "Rebecca Gingrich"
Subject: HRTs and the CPC

Today I rec'd a '2008 National Critical Issues Survey' from the CPC. The
one I found very interesting is #10 which states --Government bodies
typically known as "human rights tribunals" have been in the news a lot
during this last year. Many people have commented that their usefulness has
come to an end as some begin to persecute people. Do you agree that some of
these 'human right tribunals"have overstepped their bounds'? Yes or No
I find this interesting because during the HRT persecution(I meant that
word) of Lemire, the government Justice Department intervened on the side of
the HRT!

http://ezralevant.com/2008/05/buzz.html

http://canadianhumanrightscommission.blogspot.com/2008/05/mark-steyn-justice-minister-speaks.html

The above two articles are just one of many that show the CPC 'Justice'
department wants it both ways. What I want to know is, is #10 a real
question or just a statement to give us hope that our government would not
take part in the demise of free speech in Canada? I believe it is a red
herring. We will be told that 'Canadians want to be protected from hate'!
and nothing will change. It won't be the first time we have been played
with and it won't be the last.

Watching the news tonight I saw a short clip of Gary McHale. He is running
as an Independant in the Haldimand-Norfolk Riding which is where Caledonia is.
We all know what hasbeen going on there. McHale stated something that I
found very telling. He stated that if we, the people don't stand up for democracy
and equality, who will? http://www.caledoniawakeupcall.com/

Thank God someone is willing to step up to the plate.

Joe:

After reflecting on your request for input regarding a change in foreign policy direction for Canada, I want to begin by saying that, as in the past, you've hit upon an important topic for all of us to consider carefully.  Quite frankly, I've been a bit disappointed with the lack of response so far, so here's my contribution to the debate.

You are quite right.  "There are always choices."  You are also right to assume that internationally things are going off the rails in many places.  For this, I would pin the donkey's tail directly on the current Bush administration.

That being said, if I've understood your position correctly, you also assume that Canada always simply blindly follows the US lead.  This is simply not so.  True, this country generally lands on the US side on many issues.  However, Canada has also acted independently in its own interests, as when we engaged the Communist Chinese because Diefenbaker wanted to sell them our wheat, or because of the ideological predilections of a prime minister, as in Trudeau's cosying up to Castro, both of which annoyed the Americans.  So let's not get carried away with the elite-inspired anti-Americanism which characterizes much of this country's view of our southern neighbours.

Also, again if I've read your position correctly, you seem to imply that there would be only benefits and no costs were this country to simply oppose all American interests and international initiatives.  In my view, there certainly would be costs--economic or otherwise--were we to embark on this sort of policy direction.  In this respect, would the entire country rise up as one to accept those costs?  I think not.  And if not, what would the consequences for the nation be?  This too, needs to be considered carefully.

You propose that we should as a nation go back to peacekeeping and providing humanitarian assistance in cases of natural disasters.
Peacekeeping as a national vocation has assumed an aura of mythology in this country and is apparently widely supported.  But there are costs to this.  It's never mentioned, for instance, that Canada has lost more soldiers peacekeeping than it has in Afghanistan.  Nor have our peacekeeping efforts always produced beneficial results, as the case of Rwanda so vividly demonstrated.  So let's not kid ourselves that there would no more lives lost doing that, nor that there would not be significants costs in effort and money by going in this direction.

You also suggest that Canada should act as a mediator in the growing dispute between the Americans and the Russians.  I can think of no more certain way of annoying them both.  If two elephants are duking it out, it is wise of the mouse to get the hell out of the immediate area before it get crushed in the melee.  In my view, that one is a non-starter.

To be a bit crass here, I doubt very much if becoming the boy scout to the world (which, quite frankly, your suggestions imply) would enhance our international reputation very much.  Boy scouts are nice, but nobody pays much attention to them any more.

But as usual, you are to be commended for raising the issue.  Let the debate begin.

Real

=====
. . . unfortunately probability is your response WILL end the debate.

But I have been wrong before.

         Joe.
