FAMILIES OF CIVILIANS KILLED AS COLLATERAL DAMAGE ARE BOUND THER SAME WAY

The Haqqanis are bound by the Pashtun tribal codes to avenge yesterday's airstrike against the Manba Ulom madrassa. Two wives of Jaluluddin Haqqani, along with his elder sister and a sister-in-law, were among those killed, spokesman Maulvi Muhammad Khan told Pajhwok Afghan News. Another 15 relatives, including Badruddin and Qari Yahya, Jalaluddin's sons, were wounded.

Ahmedullah Ahemdi, a spokesman for the Haqqani family, warned the network would take revenge for yesterday's missile strike.

So, Joe.

I've been against the (Liberal) committment to Afghanistan since they made it.

I've been against the (CPC) extension of the "mission" since they did that.

I taught one of our 'casualties' in Afghanistan. Dead at 21. What a waste. For what? A 'political decision'?

Enough is enough.

I had coffee yesterday with the parents of another, about to leave (next week) for Afghanistan.

97 people dead there.

FOR WHAT?!?!?

Is there an organization/website/group that you know of....

That might be trying to start a groundswell of opposition to this freakin' 'war'? 'Police action'?

'Peacekeeping mission'?? 'Invasion'?? 'Military incursion'???

Enough is enough!!!

This HAS to become a large part of the new Election Campaign.

How?

I have read your commentary for a few years now and have enjoyed your news clippings.  However this is one of the few times when I have to disagree with something you wrote.

Canada's role as a 'Peace Maker' is a false impression, it's a lie.  It's the role our military has been relegated too by years of budget cuts and bad management.  Prior to the Trudeau years, Canada had established it's as a country who punched above it's own weight class.  How can everyone call ourselves peace keepers on one hand and yet claim Canada became a nation on the worlds bloodiest battle fields know as Vimy ridge.

Instead, we should setting the example for NATO... putting our full resources behind restoring Afghanistan to a working Nation, with their own values not some western imposed dictatorship.  I still believe we have a role to play, but should be a lead role.  We need to show the world what we are really made of.

Lets not fool ourselves any longer, we no the US have only their best interest at heart.  With the Russian bear stirring, it's time we stepped away from the eagle in to the light of what is good and decent.  We can not pull out of Afghanistan now and leave it's course to the US.  What will it change, nothing only 97 bloody fantastic Canadians died for what.. nothing.. We can let that happen, we must! Do what's right and not what's easy!!

Thanks for listening

The Hon.Mr.David Peterson,

Hearing your comments on the CBC about the meeting of elites to tell

I choose negotiations through NATO with a purpose of getting the heck out of there as quickly as possible.

We have lots better places to spend our tax dollars within Canada. It looks like a never ending drain on our economy and not enough bang for our hard earned bucks. Our guys are too precious to loose any more.

It's not our place to insist on other [much older] cultures as to how they should conduct themselves and saber rattling is a no-brainer.  We seem to be taking in any who desperately need help.

Joe--I am listening to Rutherford and a caller just stated that 'if we
aren't fighting them in Afghanistan we will be fighting them here'!  HUH???
I thought we were in Afghanistan because the nasty Taliban wouldn't let the
girls go to school?

We are there for oil for the US/israel cabal, nothing more, nothing less.
All the spin and rhetoric does not change the fact that innocent people are
dying for our greed.

The Liberals sent us to Afghanistan and the CPC is keeping us there.  Our
troops will be used to guard oil pipelines and nothing more.  This will cost
the Canadian taxpayer more than the current expenses of increased prices for
oil, gas and heating fuel.  We ain't seen nothing yet.

I heard an CPC ad on the radio today stating that 'this is not the time for
a carbon tax'.  Meaning the time is coming when it will be the right time?

Now we will be going into Pakistan?  I thought they already had 'democracy'?

After all, they just had an election didn't they?  That seems to be the
only democracy left to us in Canada.  And even that can't be trusted for
honesty.

The US already calls all the shots for NATO and the UN.  So nothing would
change there.  NATO should be disbanded immediately.  They are just another
group of criminals supporting and dying for  US hegemony.

Hello Joe,

With regard to your cyber-editorial.

Canada and the United States are currently embroiled in a political change from elections. It seems to me the priorities are;.

1. Establish first, who is going to be governing Canada and United States.

2. Establish those governing body's programs relative to Afghan, Pakistan, Russia, U.S..

3. Establish support from Canadians for a peace-process.

Subject: Federal Election 2008 - illegal televised debates.
From: rRobert G. Gauthier, Ottawa

Dear Joe: Just a note to let you know that eternal vigilance must still be ptscticed in Canada.
All the best, (enclosed is copy of my letter to the Toronto Star).
Bob

The Editor,
The Toronto Star.

"Greens slam debate exclusion," p1, by Tonda MacCharles, Sept. 9, 2009.

Here we go again.

In the 2006 Federal Election, the Leader of a Party that fielded merely 75 registered candidates, all in one province, participated in the nationally-televised debates while the Leader of a Party that fielded more than 300 registered candidates, in all ten provinces and 4 territories was excluded.

That the CRTC and the Chief Electoral Officer is again failing to enforce the provisions in the Canadian Constitution that protect freedom of expression and access to all electoral information for registered voters to make informed choices must not be repeated.

The current CRTC and Elections Act legislation also violate the provision that (presumably) ensures that any law or procedure that overrides any provision of the Canadian Constitution is of no force or effect.

It is the responsibility of the CRTC and the Chief Electoral Officer to adhere to and enforce the provisions in the Canadian Constitution.

These provisions are not arbitrary in their application - they are law of Canada, and the Canadian Constitution is the SUPREME LAW of Canada.

This matter was wrongly dismissed before the Courts at the last election in violation of our law.

Incumbent Politicians and Government Bureaucrats do not have any privileged powers to interfere with the rights of voters (or other political parties) to have access to all information about this election and are in violation in trying to do so.

Unimpeded and fair elections require that equal treatment be provided to all 15 registered political parties in Canada and that televised debates (particularly on State-owned CBC facilities) be open to all interested Party Leaders.

Unless these televised debates are made open equally to all Party Leaders, the election will have been in violation of our law and therefore invalid, as was the last one.

Freedom of Expression, the right to seek, receive and impart information without interference is again being violated in Canada for some 22,000,000 registered Canadian voters and this violation is not instigated and perpetrated only by government agents but by the journalists (and their employers) in the media (The Canadian Parliamentary Press Gallery Inc.) who should be protecting these fundamental human rights.

"We would not have expected to see such violations of freedom of expression in the more advanced democracies," wrote a Ugandan newspaper publisher to me with regard to earlier and continuing violations of Article 19 of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

I am no fan of Elizabeth May of the Green Party but she is right, not because she is a woman, but in Law, to demand and to be provided equal participation in the debates over public airwaves. If the Green Party Leader is not included, the debates should be cancelled.

Robert G. Gauthier,

From: "John Halonen"

First Brush

This election will be ugly with negative ads leading the way.

The Conservative Party has joined the ranks of the swift voters and George Bush.  Issues will become secondary, and one will never know Harper`s real agenda.

Trying to link the civil war in Afghanistan to that of World War II to excuse the loss of Canadian lives lost there, shows really the total lack of care by our PM.  There is absolutely no similarity.

Better to look at the rest ( including the Green Party that has been refused the right to debate on Televison ) and make a decision on where the vote should rest.

Canadians have the opportunity here to set the tone for future elections.   Negative Ads forever, or let`s discuss the issues.

If Harper should ever win, look for "More of the Same" next time around.  We used to be above that, but times appear to be changing.
