OPENING SALVOES
Jason was good enough to send an article to-day. It relates a positive for the CP of C. Someone who in his words "Stayed on shore" when the boat set sail has chosen to board it.OPENING SALVOES
Not only was the article posted in the "INFOS" it was translated into English and posted under PARTY POLITICS.
Be assured that as was the response to Jason's information, so will be the response to either articles or opinion supportive of the C.P. of C. cause, posting on the Digest.
The contending view derogating the C.P. of C. will be as well - to the benefit of those who as of yet have not arrived at a definitive decision what to do on election day.
Andre Bachand coming on board is a significant plus for the YES position.
The Letter to the Editor below presents a NO view.

Not sure if this made the "INFOS" section of the last DD, but if not, perhaps in can go in your next edition - M. Bachand has decided to run for the CPC in the next election:

"on your side" poor choice as slogan for Conservative Party of Canada
Niagara Falls, Ontario,
Tuesday, September 2, 2008
by: Joe Hueglin
The Conservative Party of Canada slogan "STRONG LEADERSHIP. ON YOUR SIDE" (1) is one that will not have universal appeal.
Those in towns dependent on lumbering will recall that while the promise was made "We will stand up for Canada" (2) on the softwood lumber dispute he did not do so.
Will western wheat growers who elected pro-Canadian Wheat Board directors see him as being on their side or for that matter will Newfoundland and Labradorians, when he broke his word to them?
"STRONG LEADERSHIP" does not promise three ice breakers then reduce the number to one nor announce critical replacements for 40 year old naval supply ships with fanfare, then cancel the orders on a Friday afternoon, nor call Ontario the 'last place' to invest. (3)
Will those negatively affected, the lumber industry, wheat farmers, ship builders and the citizens of Newfoundland and Labrador and Ontario, have forgotten when the Prime Minister was not on their side? Such must be the expectation of Conservative strategists to make "STRONG LEADERSHIP. ON YOUR SIDE" the focus of their campaign.
Joe Hueglin
